Products of the Selena Group become increasingly prominent in the Chinese market. They were also used by the companies constructing pavilions for the EXPO 2010 exhibition. Tytan-brand polyurethane foams, sealants and adhesives were used for building the cultural pavilion of EXPO 2010 and the exhibits of Malaysia, Switzerland, Germany and Italy.
EXPO 2010 is the biggest and most spectacular world exhibition. The organisers estimate that during event, lasting from 1 May to 31 October 2010, the nearly 250 national pavilions will be visited by 70 million people. It is noteworthy that many of the pavilions were developed using the Tytan products.
“The Tytan brand has a strong, well-established presence in the Central and Eastern Europe, and is also becoming more recognisable and popular among the clients from Asia. The fact that our products were used in the delivery of the prestigious construction projects connected with EXPO 2010 also has a pronounced business significance in the Chinese market. The Chinese contractors appreciated the quality of Tytan foams and sealants, which is the best recommendation for further clients' - said Krzysztof Domarecki, CEO of SELENA FM SA, the Group's holding company.
Selena is actively promoting the Tytan brand during professional exhibitions. On 8-11 July 2010, Selena Shanghai Trading Co. will take part in the 12th edition of the China International Building & Decoration Fair in Canton. During the event the company will be presenting the Tytan Professional polyurethane foams and sealants and the new line of transparent adhesives. Selena also intends to participate in the door & window technology fair Fenestration China 2010 in November 2010.
China is one of the key geographic expansion targets for Selena. Selena’s fist investment in the Chinese market was the joint-venture Foshan Chinuri Selena Chemical Co. Ltd. Founded in 2007, the company is a manufacturer of sealants for the Chinese and Central Asian markets. The same year saw establishment of Selena Shanghai Trading Co. Ltd., responsible for building the distribution network and sales development. Currently, development of a polyurethane foams factory in Nantong is nearing completion with production to start already this year.
“Asia is a strategic destination for the Group's development. We are planning to create in China a centre for geographic expansion into the South-East region and the Pacific islands. The key building blocks for Selena's market position in the region include: quality advantage, European manufacturing technologies and the wide range of products in the individual product lines. With our own research and development function, we align our proposition to the local market requirements and weather conditions. For example, for the Chinese market we created two types of polyurethane foams: for the wet and dry climate” –Krzysztof Domarecki added.
